The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called the Rainbow Bridge.
When a beloved animal dies that has been especially close to us, they wait for us at the Rainbow Bridge.  Among the meadows and hills at the foot of the Rainbow Bridge, our special friends have room to run and play. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are always warm and comfortable.

Those that had been ill or old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and are strong again, just as we remember them in our thoughts of days gone by. Our friends are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss that special someone they had to leave behind.

Now they run and play, but the day will come when suddenly one stops and looks into the distance. Its bright eyes intent, its eager body quivers with anticipation. Suddenly it begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, its legs carrying it faster and faster.

You've been spotted and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, not remembering the time away, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain down; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.  They are all waiting there for us, at the foot of the Rainbow Bridge, waiting to finally cross the Rainbow Bridge together...
